MGI Midgley Snelling founded MGI, the worldwide association of independent auditing, accounting and consulting firms in 1947. Based in Weybridge, MGI Midgley Snelling is still very much at the centre of MGI.

Managing partner Robin Sewell explains why membership of the association has been of such immense benefit to the firm and its clients over the years.

"We have always been totally client focused and membership of MGI has helped ensure we can offer a seamless service to our clients.

“Through the international network, we have been able to provide our clients with the services and capabilities of the large multinational firms, whilst retaining the benefit of the close partner contact which only firms our size can provide.

“As more and more of our clients operate internationally, membership of the MGI network is now essential in helping us to advise them in their business activities.

“We attend just about every MGI meeting around the world and as a result, know partners in every MGI firm. This means that if our clients need help anywhere in the world, we personally know exactly who to contact for reliable and, above all, practical local advice.

“A few very recent examples of this are of a client who needed advice on extracting funds from a US pension fund, another on exercising stock options in South Africa and a third in finding a potential joint venture partner for a wine business in Australia. In each case, we were able to get prompt, helpful advice for them.

“As a bonus, we have been referred a number of new clients who are setting up in the UK by our MGI members overseas.

"In the UK, there are also many occasions where we have been able to call on the skill sets of our other UK MGI members to help our clients. This is an added benefit of membership, as is the training and practice assurance reviews organised on a national basis through MGI.

"Overall, in a world in which virtually every business now has to think multinationally, our clients expect us to have the answers to their problems wherever they arise and membership of MGI gives us a great way to be able to do this."
