Introducing Copsey Murray
Copsey Murray, our sole representative from the Republic of Ireland, is a firm of Chartered Accountants and Registered Auditors, established over thirty years ago.
While the Republic’s economic problems over recent years have been well-documented, Copsey Murray has continued to thrive by offering companies better-value audits, tax compliance and company statutory services than those offered by the ‘big name’ firms.
As in the UK, Copsey Murray’s message of providing a comparative service at a lower price, with the international insight gained from being a member of MGI, is frequently a winning prospect, particularly at a time when businesses are looking to save cash.
Copsey Murray operates from two locations, one based in Dublin and the other in Arklow, Co Wicklow, some 60km south of the capital. The firm comprises three partners – Tony Kenny, Tim O’Keeffe and Colm Byrne – sixteen professional staff and four support personnel.
A full range of accountancy services, including audit, forensic accounting, tax work, corporate finance, corporate compliance, bookkeeping and payroll, are offered. A more recent development is the formation of a joint venture company with tax expert Andrew Gelling, Andrew Gelling Tax Consultants, which offers advice on a range of company and personal tax matters including corporate tax planning, corporate restructuring and reorganisation and personal estate planning.
Copsey Murray takes a proactive approach to keeping clients abreast of the continuing changes in company legislation and the technical implications of those changes. It also has substantial experience in business start-ups, providing ‘hands-on’ assistance where necessary in establishing bookkeeping and management information systems.
Ireland remains a popular destination for inward investment, with the Irish government retaining the country’s 12.5 per cent Corporation Tax rate despite pressure from the EU, and a number of grants available to encourage businesses to move operations to the country. Copsey Murray is happy to assist UK member firms and their clients to research the availability of grants and provide a suitable tax structure for any client who may be considering investing there.
The firm has also been assisting new and existing clients who are experiencing financial trouble to restructure their bank loan arrangements, helping in negotiations with the country’s banks and the National Asset Management Agency (NAMA), and is happy to offer its expertise in this area.
