Pioneering partners
Managing partners from MGI firms enjoyed a packed programme at a pioneering event earlier this month.
MGI UK and Ireland’s first managing partners seminar, which took place in London on 8 May, involved discussions on topics ranging from document management systems to succession planning and the valuing of good will.
The event also saw the unveiling of MGI UK and Ireland’s new-look website, at www.mgi-uk.com, which met with positive feedback from delegates, along with some suggestions to enhance it further.
Other items on the agenda included a discussion around the role of the managing partner and the way that it varies from firm to firm.
And there was a focus on lessons learned from last year’s inter-firm comparison and the relationship-building that has developed as a result, with practices now networking informally as well as through MGI channels.
Bob Sadler, managing partner at MGI Rickard Keen, said: “We all stand to learn from each other’s experiences and to be able to do this in an environment where there are no competition factors was a great benefit.
“As all participants were happy to speak openly about both the positive and negative aspects of their practices, it provided an extremely useful forum for building up an understanding of the issues facing UK firms and gave a lot of food for thought when developing and implementing strategy.”
Another managing partners seminar is planned for later in the year and it is hoped that the seminars will become a twice-yearly event.
