Conference turns spotlight on recruitment
Attracting the best people into accountancy – and keeping them in the profession – is the theme of MGI UK and Ireland’s 2008 annual conference.
Taking place at the Hayley Conference Centre, Ettington Chase, Stratford-on-Avon, from 20-22 November, the conference is expected to attract around 80 delegates from member and prospective member firms to hear a range of expert speakers explore issues around staff recruitment, retention and career development. They will include:
-
Stephen Cheliotis of Superbrands, looking at why first impressions count in attracting good people
-
Employment law specialist Lynne Ingrams, of solicitors Knights LLP, looking at advertising vacancies and interviewing without falling foul of the law
-
Jenny Goulding, HR manager of specialist tax consultants Bourne Business Consulting, on the opportunities and pitfalls of graduate programmes.
Also taking part will be representatives of recruitment website monster.com and executive headhunters Whitehead Mann.
Paul Winder, CEO of MGI UK and Ireland, said: “This promises to be a really exciting event. Recruiting the very best people into accountancy, and keeping them, is something that is a priority for us all, so we expect that the conference to certainly get delegates thinking about this key issue.”
Information on booking places at the conference will be issued shortly.
