MGI keeps on blogging

MGI has continued using the popular accountancy website www.accountingweb.co.uk to raise the profile of the organisation and its member firms, as well as highlighting issues of interest to other finance professionals.

Our most recent blog on the site saw Carter Backer Winter partner John Alexander discuss the controversial issue of ‘pre packs’ – where companies go into administration and are immediately bought back by their former directors, minus their debts and unwanted assets.

While recognising this could leave creditors out of profit, John pointed out that, in some cases, a sale to the previous owners may be the best way to preserve jobs, as well as maximising value for stakeholders, including creditors.

In addition to being read several hundred times in its first week, the article also attracted a number of comments, with other readers giving their views on what John had said.

MGI UK and Ireland chief executive officer Paul Winder said: “The fact that John’s article was not only read, but that some readers were interested enough to comment on it, shows that these blogs are a great way to get the name of our member firms and of MGI out to a wider audience.
