UK and Ireland conference nears

Plans are taking shape for our 2009 MGI UK and Ireland Partners’ and Managers’ conference from 26 to 28 November, which will focus on new technology and how accountancy firms can take advantage of it.

The conference agenda has now been finalised and will include a keynote speech from respected scientist, inventor and TV and radio personality Professor Heinz Wolff, who will provide an insight into the possible future of technology within professional firms and the likely impact on their working practices and delivery of services to clients.

MGI are delighted to have CCH as their primary conference sponsor. A representative from Blackberry will be talking about technology ‘must haves’, while a speaker from Companies House will discuss online filing. Disaster recovery and the need for a plan will be the theme of one session. A presentation from the IASB will focus on XBRL and future financial reporting requirements while other speakers will include representatives from Apple Inc, Digita, JE Consulting, ICAEW and Xero.

All of the MGI member firms in UK and Ireland will be sending delegates, and we also expect to welcome guests from Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, South Africa, Hungary and the Democratic Republic of Congo. International lawyer firm association Mackerels will also be sending a group of delegates to listen to the seminars and share ideas.

Anyone who has not yet given details of their delegation to Paul Winder should do so as soon as possible.
