MGI moves into top 30

MGI, the global association of accountancy firms of which MGI UK and Ireland is part, has enjoyed another successful year, with a 17 per cent increase in fee income across the association – enough to see it enter Accountancy Age magazine’s list of the top 30 international networks, associations and alliances at 27.

The increase in fee income during the 2009/10 financial year was the second-highest in the Top 30, and was in contrast to a decline in income among many of the larger international networks.

In total, the 30 largest networks, associations and alliances saw their fee income fall by almost five per cent during the year, with around half of the organisations featured reporting a fall.

MGI chief executive Paul Winder said: “It is very pleasing that, at a time when all of the ‘big four’ accountancy firms and many other networks, alliances and associations have reported a decline in fee income, MGI has been able to continue growing, despite the difficult economic conditions.

“Many clients are finding that by going with a smaller, local firm, they get a more personal and better-value service than with one of the big names, and if that firm is also a member of a global association such as MGI, that ensures they also do not miss out on the global contacts and knowledge they may need when doing business overseas.”
