New member firm Harrison, Beale and Owen (HB&O), has added further experience to its team, with the recruitment of Donald Hunter as a consultant trust and estate practitioner. He will be based at the firm’s Leamington office and provide advice on wills, trusts and probate estate administration. The company also hosted a masterclass in business growth with leading expert Stuart Lockley, attended by around 25 clients, and has entered into a new partnership with Business Link West Midlands to help local businesses access finance and other support during the current economic climate.
CBW recently held a working lunch for private client and family solicitors, hosted by Justin Urquhart Stewart of Seven Investment Management who gave a review of the impending changes within the Financial Planning industry with particular emphasis on what the implications would be for these solicitors. CBW is also about to launch its Property Tax helpline for solicitors. With one phone call solicitors will be able to get expert assistance on the tax issues relating to deal structuring, Capital Allowances, SDLT and VAT.
Paola Coltra, a trainee accountant at Rickard Keen spent a week at fellow MGI member firm Studio Pragma in Faro, Italy, where she was able to share ideas and expertise with her Italian counterparts. The firm has also re-launched its Business Services Department, which handles services such as payroll, bookkeeping, Sage training and VAT compliance support for small and medium-sized firms on an outsourced basis.
Midgley Snelling has welcomed another new recruit to its team, with the arrival of Katarzyna Drozd as a trainee accountant, on a four-year ICAEW training contract. Meanwhile, accounts semi-senior Judit Hornyak successfully passed the last of her fundamental level ACCA exams, and will now move onto her professional level.
There was also cause for celebration at Milsted Langdon as the firm marked six years at its Bristol office with a seaside-themed party, attended by around 100 professional friends of the firm. And the Bristol office is continuing to grow, with Gill Wright joining the team as a senior tax manager and Simon Hateley starting as an administrator in the insolvency department.
Watson Buckle is celebrating the success of team member Heather Johnson after she passed the final three papers of her Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) qualification with the highest marks in the Bradford area, receiving a cheque for £250 from the Bradford Chartered Accountant Students Society as a result.
