Initial plans made for UK conference

This year, we will be returning to Beaumont House, Old Windsor, which we last visited in 2007. We will be running three tracks for the majority of Friday, as piloted last year for the first time, with tracks on IT, marketing and people skills development.

I would like to thank David Watson at Milsted Langdon for offering to chair the IT track and for his input on sourcing speakers. We are also in discussions to secure a keynote speaker for Thursday.

Besides the track themes there will also be an overall theme of ‘How do your clients do business in emerging economies’, with a particular focus on the BRIC countries – Brazil, Russia, India and China. We hope to have a short presentation from an MGI member or other trade representative with experience of doing business in these areas. The intention is to help our members so they are better-equipped if their clients talk to them about these opportunities.

We will also have some ‘breakout’ sessions, where people can discuss what they want from MGI. Saturday will have a different approach, but still focusing on one of the themes – something to get everyone active and thinking.

The conference will be kept competitively-priced, although the nature of the venue will make it a little more expensive than last year, but for once, when I say the venue is near Heathrow, it actually will be!
