MGI Nordic Circle Meeting
MGI Revisjon Asker hosted a very entertaining, informative and interesting Nordic Circle Meeting on 10-11 September 2010.
The meeting was very strongly supported with 16 people from MGI Revisjon Asker and 10 people from LST Revisjon A/S in Oslo, 15 people from MGI Revideco AB from Stockholm, Sweden and 18 people from Signum Revision A/S from Denmark. All firms closed their offices and almost all of the staff and partners attended the meeting.
The main objective of the meeting was to ensure the Nordic firms at every level knew each other better and obtained more information about MGI and the opportunities available for members of the association.
In addition to the four Nordic firms the meeting was supported by Clive Bennett the new European Executive Director, Patricia Fullalove from MGI World, Laszlo Killik from Budapest, Hans Juergen Klein from Hamburg, Francesco Bartolucci from Fano and Stephen Yeates from the UK.
The first morning’s presentations were from the Nordic member firms and provided a very useful opportunity to understand a little bit more about the areas of expertise within each individual firm.
The main event in the afternoon was designed to help firms get to know each other. It was also the first Nordic Circle volleyball competition! Following the third and fourth place playoff and an exciting final the players and weary spectators walked to the offices of MGI Revisjon Asker for a tour around their very impressive office in the suburban town of Asker. Everyone was rewarded with strawberries and champagne for their efforts – not quite a Wimbledon sporting event, but close enough!
In the evening our hosts had organised a dinner and they ensured that each table contained a mixture of people from the different firms and to help with the interaction and getting to know each other there was a quiz.
Presentations on the second morning commenced with Erik Emilsson providing a report on MGI Nordic Circle and in particular details of the size and strengths of all of the firms in the Nordic area. He expanded his presentation to include an overview of how MGI international operates; the infrastructure of the geographic areas of the association and how these complement one another.
Stephen Yeates then provided a brief history of MGI, its organisation and an overview of the activities and initiatives undertaken by the UK members.
Clive Bennett, the new European Executive Director, who was still in his first week of work for MGI, gave details of his background and experience and an overview of what he has already learned about the association and some of his expectations for the European Area.
Patricia Fullalove then provided everyone with an online introduction to the MGI World website.
Jan Nygaard from Copenhagen gave the final presentation on MGI European matters, reminding the Nordic Area they are part of a larger European Area group.
The hotel arrangements, and in particular the food and its location were first class. Most delegates felt the content of the presentations met their expectations to learn more about MGI. The commitment made by firms in supporting the meeting and the opportunity for such a large number of people from each of the firms to meet, learn more about MGI and its benefits made this a unique and very rewarding meeting.
