We all came out to Montreux on the Lake Geneva Shoreline.

Those of you of a certain age will recognise the opening line to Deep Purple’s Smoke on the Water.

On 4th March we all came out to Montreux for the MGI Mediterranean Meeting hosted by Bernold Knobl and André Farinelli of MGI Audit & Gestion.

We met at the magnificent Montreux Palace overlooking the lake and from the moment we arrived the sun shone as if it were mid summer.

Francesco Bartolucci, the area coordinator, chaired the meeting and on the Friday afternoon introduced presentations on the current situation of the Euro area and the debt crisis followed by a presentation from a Swiss bank.

We then had the opportunity to sample wines from the Lavaux region of Switzerland followed by dinner in the hotel.

Some were lucky, some less so when the evening ended at the Montreux Casino.

During the Saturday morning, Thierry Delvaux gave a presentation on the developments in MGI since his appointment as Executive Director and Clive Bennett then led a discussion on the issues facing MGI in Europe, in particular the conflict between our desire to market MGI as a worldwide brand and the inability to do so without facing the risk of becoming a network.

The Mediterranean Meeting has developed from the French speaking Latin Group into a more diverse group drawn from Switzerland, Germany, France, UK, Israel, Luxembourg, Italy, Portugal and Spain.

Next year it will be branching out further and will be held in conjunction with a large client event hosted by Dunsky Knobel Beltzer Yakar in Tel-Aviv. I would recommend that you attend.
