Firm really does go the extra mile

Professional advisers often say they go the extra mile for clients but in the case of CI Accountancy, the firm has been hitting the road to do exactly that.As part of a proactive policy of adding value to the services it offers – which also includes offering an unusual specialism in antimoney laundering compliance – the firm recently launched a delivery and collection service for client records and books, which is free within a 25mile
radius of its head office at Warden, near Hexham, Northumberland. CI Accountancy director Les Hare said: “We appreciate that clients are busy running their businesses and cannot always get their books to us during normal office hours.

“This new service enables records to be collected from their home or place of work, without taking them away from their business, which is more convenient for them. It benefits us too, because rather than us waiting for the books until they can drop them off, we can pick them up in good time and make sure we hit relevant deadlines.”

The delivery and collection service highlights CI Accountancy’s “what can we do that other accountants don’t?” focus to developing the practice. Les says: “Gary Killmister, our managing director, and I do a lot of networking and we’re very aware of how important it is to make ourselves stand out from the crowd.

“Other ways in which we differentiate ourselves include our business startup services – such as business plans and grant applications – and our estates administration and probate specialisms, along with particular expertise in tax and other financial issues relating to professional sports players.”

The firm is also particularly strong on antimoney laundering compliance, drawing on Gary’s involvement in the drafting, review and implementation of the first UK antimoney laundering legislation in 1995 and Les’s background in banking.

Les adds: “We’re always looking for ways to stay one step ahead – as we say, it’s not just what
you do, it’s what you do differently.”
