Financial guru leads Seymour Taylor seminars

A leading commentator on financial and economic issues provided expert insight at a seminar day hosted by Seymour Taylor and its financial adviser partners Chiltern Consultancy.

Justin Urquhart Stewart, cofounder of Seven Investment Management (7IM) and a regular guest on BBC TV and radio, presented two seminars on 18 November, starting with a breakfast session for representatives of local firms of solicitors, held at Seymour Taylor’s High Wycombe office, on the Trustees Act and its implications.

A trained barrister, Justin discussed the evaluation of mandates and the solicitors’ duty of care and reinforced the necessity for professionals to verify that their clients are being advised correctly regarding their investments, if they, as solicitors, are taking on the responsibility (and potential liability) of trustee. During a lunchtime seminar at Adams Park Conference Centre, an audience drawn from more than 30 businesses benefited from Justin’s insight into the current world economy, in which he underlined the necessity of continuing to develop investment markets.

He stressed that in a nation of small businesses, “if we create the right environment, they will drive employment” and that a recovery would involve “longer, slower growth”.
