Tax partner builds links in New York

Milsted Langdon partner Elaine Durrant has shared her tax expertise at a New York conference in what she described as a “fantastic opportunity” to build links with MGI colleagues from around the world.

Elaine was a guest speaker at MGI’s North American conference, which took place at the InterContinental Hotel,
Times Square. Her presentation focused on how to avoid common pitfalls facing people making investments in
countries with different tax regimes, particularly the US. She also attended MGI’s global conference, which took
place at the same venue from 1921 October, immediately after the North American event, as a delegate alongside
fellow MGI members from across the world.

Elaine said: “I was delighted to be invited by MGI to address its New York conference on the subject of international tax. Although I regularly speak on the topic back home, it was the first time I’ve done so on the other side of the world.

“My presentation was very well received and the feedback has been excellent. The event also provided a fantastic opportunity to build contacts with accountants from all over the world, as well as taking queries on behalf of other members of our international tax team who have expertise in a particular area.”
