As MGI is an international organisation, I should perhaps begin with the words “plus ça change” It is twenty one years since I attended an MGI conference in Scheveningen in Holland.
The warmth of the welcome this time in Amsterdam and the professionalism of the arrangements were equal to the excellent standards set in 1986. This was a perfect opportunity to meet up with many old friends and to make many new ones. The technical content of the presentations was first class and I identified some new opportunities for both the Association and MGI Rickard Keen.

Our continuing approach to the recruitment of new members is a targeted one which reviews the practice demographics in geographical locations before we research the firm to ascertain the correct contacts and check if they are members of an existing UK network or are affiliated with an international network.
With this information in place, contact is made with the senior or managing partner, information sent and follow up calls conducted.

It is very likely HMRC through the Government will try to legislate against the decision. I would not expect the legislation to be retrospective – the government would not be able to stand up to the backlash – instead it will probably come into force next year.
